From Memphis, TN, the musical mecca of the universe, Robert Allen Parker was simply born to play guitar. He got around to it at age 10 under the guidance of Scott Dodge (blues guitarist for Blind Mississippi Morris). Influenced at an early age by electric delta blues and the golden age of classic rock, 1965-1975, Parker began playing in bands around Memphis and developed his guitar skills in genres as diverse as funk, reggae, blues, and soul. Around this same time, he sharpened his skills as a songwriter. Who has he played with? Rufus Thomas, Denise Lasalle, Valerie June, Sherman Guy (The Bar-Kays), the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, Dr. “Feelgood” Potts, Sheba Potts-Wright, Gangsta Boo, etc. Who does he play with? Yubu & The Ancient Youth, Hope Clayburn’s Soul Scrimmage, Earl “The Pearl” Banks, Doc Fangaz + The Remedy, Trouble No More: A Tribute To The Allman Bros, and The Bluff City Backsliders. Robert Allen Parker won Indie Memphis Film Festival Best Audience Award (2013) for the documentary “Meanwhile In Memphis.”
