Mike Hewlett & The Racket is a no-frills, left of center country music experience, with early rock n roll and blues influences from Memphis, TN. The songs combine roots music with lyrics of stories about real people and situations, and song craft fundamentally rooted in folk music traditions. These are the sounds of a reckoning with the good and the bad traditions and ideas imprinted upon a person growing up in the southern United States, where many places and people are compelled by the spirits of the past.
